The Star Malaysia

Two artistes staging concerts on same day

-

PETALING JAYA: Popstar Charlie Puth was not even born when rock ‘n’ roll legend Guns ‘ N’ Roses was formed in 1985, but the two artistes will go head to head on Nov 14 with concerts on the same day.

However, it seems both artistes have different sets of fans and as such, the clashing of dates does not really matter.

Masters student Anisha Haveena Kaur, a self- proclaimed Puth “superfan”, said that there was never any doubt that she would be going to his concert.

“When he released the Asian dates and Malaysia was in it, I actually cried,” said the 25-yearold.

Anisha said another reason for choosing Puth over the rock band was because she was not sure if the pop star would come to Malaysia again.

“Evergreen bands (like Guns ‘n’ Roses) tend to come to Malaysia again and again but for current pop artistes, they somehow tend to skip Malaysia altogether when it comes to tours.

“Take Sam Smith for example. He skipped us.

“Many more have done the same over the years. We don’t know if Puth will come again for another tour, but I have a feeling GnR might.”

On the other end of the specturm, when asked about choosing Guns ‘n’ Roses over Puth, 47-yearold expatriate Xavier Blaise simply asked: “Charlie who?”

Meanwhile, a Twitter search for Guns ‘n’ Roses and Puth in Malaysia yielded only a couple of mentions of both concerts in the same tweet.

One user, @rinisha_, tweeted: “Guns N’ Roses and Charlie Puth are coming on the same day. WHY?!” with two crying emoticons.
