Anwar: I’ve spoken at length about full pardon

-

KUALA SELANGOR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he had spoken a lot about the full pardon given to him by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong since his release from prison.

The PKR president-elect said he spoke at length about the matter at the recently concluded Port Dickson by-election which he won convincingly.

“I spoke about this many times since I was released from prison.

“Even the people in Port Dickson don’t want to hear about this anymore. They are fed up with it,” he said, adding there have been much news and many videos of his speech and even books written about it.

Anwar said this in a question and answer session after his speech during the Meet Anwar Ibrahim programme organised by Universiti Selangor (Unisel) and Anwar Ibrahim Club held at Unisel’s Bestari Jaya campus here yesterday.

Questions about his sodomy cases were raised during the session. Anwar said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has given him a full pardon from 1998 to 2018.

“The Yang di-Pertuan Agong said he did so not because he has the power to but because he knew that there has been a miscarriage of justice and that the allegations were not true,” he said.
