> Phase out coal

I say phase out the use of coal in power generation. It may seem attractive as a low-cost form of power generation but, taking into account the air and water pollution from both coal mining and production of electricity, the longterm effects on the health of the people and environment are seriously bad. – Bulbir Singh

> Better things to do

Our government wants to revive the “crooked bridge” project at the Causeway. About half a million workers on our side ply the Causeway daily to earn a living down south. Widening the Causeway to ease traffic flow and putting up a covered walkway for workers who commute by foot would be more beneficial. Increased and more efficient immigration booths on both sides with faster clearance procedures for workers with permits would help ease congestion. – BeatleNo.5

> Reduce opening hours

National obesity level is at an alltime high. Round-the-clock feasting in 24-hour mamak outlets with little or no exercise is the problem. Reduce opening times to 18 hours. – LeeHuiSeng

> Smokers’ rights

The new government is banning smoking eateries without any consideration for smokers. Why are no smoking tables allocated? Where are the smoking areas that we can go to? Everything is rushed and done without proper thinking. – Very Disappointed

Do the rakyat believe that when the government keeps on raising the prices of cigarettes, smokers will stop smoking? And does the government really want to put a stop to smoking when it raises the prices of tobacco? If the answers are yes, smoking would have been dealt a fatal blow a long time ago. – William Ong

> Billing options

Why have utility providers stopped sending bills by post? Does everyone have Internet facilities, email addresses, etc? Do all of our residential areas have uninterrupted Internet connection? Don’t consumers have a choice of how they want to be billed and pay? Give us the choice and do not impose on us, please. – Klang Resident

> Still on ECRL

Suggest that the ECRL be built phase by phase, that is phase one connecting Gombak and Kuantan Port and so forth. This rail project is vital to reduce congestion on highways to the east coast during festive seasons.

> Incomplete probe

None of the enquiry boards set up by the Health Ministry interviewed the director-general of health and his deputy over the sexual predator issue in the Klang Valley hospital. They received numerous complaints too but chose to remain silent.
