Anwar in PD to get first-hand info on problems faced by constituents
PORT DICKSON: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim returned to Port Dickson six days after his thumping win in a by-election to get first-hand information on problems faced by constituents as well as keep a pledge to help deliver two dialysis machines to the district hospital.
The newly-elected MP made his first stop at the Land and Administrative Complex here, where he was given a briefing by district officer Khairy Maamor.
After the hour-long briefing also attended by Sri Tanjung assemblyman M. Ravi, Lukut assemblyman Choo Ken Hwa, Chuah assemblyman Michael Yek and former MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, Anwar made his way to the Kampung Paya mosque for Friday prayers with the local Muslim congregation. There, he was feted to lunch and honoured by the local community.
The PKR leader then made his way to the Port Dickson Hospital to hand over two dialysis machines sponsored by Yayasan Aman, an organisation he founded in 1983.
Anwar also toured the dialysis ward and gave words of encouragement to the patients.
Ravi, when met later, said Anwar had promised to get two machines for the hospital’s dialysis unit during an earlier visit.
Ravi said 64 patients presently sought dialysis treatment at the hospital.
Earlier in the day, Anwar was among others briefed on the problem of flash floods in the constituency and the shortage of beds at the district hospital. According to Ravi, Anwar had also promised to raise a proposal for the construction of a retention pond to prevent flash floods, with the federal authorities.
On the shortage of beds, Ravi said there was a proposal to build a new block at the hospital, which would also house two operation theatres.
