PETALING JAYA: The PKR e-voting system has hit another road bump in Melaka.

PKR election chairman Datuk Rashid Din said a decision would be made today on whether it was necessary to conduct a new round of voting for Melaka following allegations that some 1,000 votes had “gone missing”.

“A post-mortem is going on. Internal checks show that more than 1,000 votes or so could not be located in our system,” he said.

“Our system developer is looking into the problem and we will decide on Monday whether to call for fresh elections in Melaka.”

Rashid attributed the problem to computer-related glitches.

He added that five out of six divisions in Melaka were affected as well as one division in Negri Sembilan.

As a result, the outcome of the polls in these two states where Rafizi Ramli has claimed victory over Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in the deputy president contest has yet to be officially announced.

Rafizi had claimed that he secured 55% of the votes in Melaka and 52% in Negri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, in Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU), a commotion broke out when a group of people accompanied by former Selangor Youth chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman arrived at around lunchtime to vote.

According to PJU deputy chairman Lee Chin Cheh, some in the group were unable to vote because their names were not on the membership register or in the computerised voting system.

That led to a commotion and the police had to be called in to control the situation.

Syed Badli had resigned from his post in the Youth wing after alleging cronyism in the appointment of councillors.

He had accused outgoing Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin of rewarding her supporters in the appointment of councillors which she has denied.
