Bangsa Johor dream home project kicks off
MERSING: The Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor affordable housing project is expected to be completed within the next two years with online applications starting on Nov 1.
Mersing District Officer Asman Shah Abdul Rahman said different types of residential properties would be built on 60.7ha of land donated by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
“These include single-storey, double-storey, semi-detached houses, bungalows and shophouses.
“Other components of the project include Kompleks Bangsa Johor, a surau, a community hall as well as primary and secondary schools,” he told reporters during the ground-breaking ceremony of the project at Kampung Sri Pantai here yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.
Asman Shah said Sultan Ibrahim had wanted the housing project in Mersing over concern for those who needed but could not afford to own their own homes.
Development planning for the project, he said, had been submitted to the State Land and Mines director.
Asman Shah pointed out that there were no other projects offering homes starting from RM70,000.
“We have received many enquiries on the Rumah Impian Bangsa Johor houses and the local community is excited,” he told reporters.
Asman Shah said the community was also looking forward to Kompleks Bangsa Johor – an open-roof building which could be used by night market traders and food truck operators.
Badminton and sepak takraw matches can also be held at the complex.
