Main hit-and-run suspect probed for murder

SEPANG: The main suspect in the hit-and-run incident in Cyberjaya, which led to the death of pedestrian Wan Amirah Wan Alias, is being investigat­ed for murder.

Previously, the case was classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Yesterday, the 23-year-old Libyan man had his remand extended for five more days.

The remand of two other foreigners was also extended.

All three were brought to the magistrate’s court here for the remand order.

OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali confirmed that the suspects had been remanded further to assist in investigat­ions.

On Thursday, the three foreigners were arrested at Pusat Bandar Putra Permai in Seri Kembangan and at Verdi Residence in Cyberjaya along with a Sabahan woman.

All four are students at an internatio­nal university in Cyberjaya.

The woman was released after her remand expired on Monday.

Wan Amirah, 31, was hit by a car and dragged along the street at Shaftsbury Square as she was crossing the road at 7.35pm on Oct 17.

An assistant manager with a telecommun­ications company, she died at Hospital Putrajaya the following day from serious injuries.
