Apply for leadership programme

-

THE United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is inviting applications from students and adult mentors in Perak and Pahang for the 2019 Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Programme (SEAYLP).

“Annually we go on rotational basis according to states. This year is Perak and Pahang.”

SEAYLP is a three-week US-based exchange programme, focused on leadership and youth development and to explore shared challenges faced by the United States and Asean member countries for secondary students aged 15 to17.

This programme will take place in April 2019 and will include workshops, interactive sessions, simulations, leadership training and team-building exercises. Extracurricular activities will round out the programme with volunteer service opportunities and interactive site visits with relevant organisations in the host communities.

The adult participants will have special sessions with their peers designed to help them foster leadership and civic education programmes at home. Participants will have homestays with American families and a study tour to another region of the country away from the exchange’s primary location. After returning home, participants are required to implement follow-on projects in their home communities.

Eligible candidates must have strong English skills, committed to the follow-on project upon return and obtain permission from parents/legal guardians for the student applicants.

The application deadline is today. For information, visit https://my.usembassy.gov/education-culture/exchange-opportunities/exchange-educators/.
