LANGKAWI: The 51-year-old British woman who allegedly stabbed her husband at their bungalow in Kampung Gelam, Langkawi, is expected to be charged with his murder in a magistrate’s court here today.

Langkawi OCPD Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said Samantha Ann Jones, a housewife from the United Kingdom, would be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Samantha’s seven-day remand order expires today.

Her husband John William Jones, 63, a retired fireman, also from the United Kingdom, was stabbed on his right chest, in the wee hours of the morning last week.

The couple have been living in Langkawi for the past 11 years under the Malaysia My Second Home programme.

Supt Mohd Iqbal said John’s body was still at the Forensic Medicine Department of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.

“So far, no next of kin of the victim has come forward to claim his body,” he said.

“We hope the deceased’s children or family members will come forward.”

Supt Mohd Iqbal added that if the body was not claimed, it would be handed over to the British High Commission after John’s fingerprint report had been obtained.

He said that those who knew John’s family members could contact investigating officer ASP Mohd Nizam Hassan at 017-274 5285.
