GEORGE TOWN: Ghouls, zombies and witches invaded a mall here, giving everyone a good scare and loads of fun for Halloween.

Some of the youngsters sported creepily painted faces while others wielded body parts as they stomped around the Straits Quay Retail Marina in a Trick or Treat quest.

They were tasked with acquiring stamps from around 30 participating tenants for their Halloween passport, along with handfuls of candy.

Joining them in the hunt were an equally rambunctious group of superheroes, fairytale princesses and other colourful characters.

Loh Zheng Kai and Shawn Yeoh Li Wei, both seven, came dressed up as Marvel’s Incredible Hulk and Iron Man.

“I like the Hulk because he is powerful,” Zheng Kai quipped, offering a few roars and clenching his muscles to reaffirm his point.

“But Iron Man can fly,” Shawn retorted as he posed for the camerawielding mall patrons.

Businessman Lau Yong Yu, 33, brought his two kids Jude, two, and Hauser, one, who played a policeman and a magician.

“They liked the roles and chose it themselves.

“We live nearby and come for the Halloween event every year for a bit of fun,” said Lau.

Around 300 kids, accompanied by parents and guardians, joined in the Trick or Treat quest.

The first 100 who completed it were rewarded with a star-shaped light gadget.

As the night ended with more rounds of selfies and instagrammable shots, many of the revellers were seen leaving with buckets of sweets.

Halloween, also known as All Hallows’ Eve, is celebrated on Oct 31 every year.
