Despite taking sciences in college, I find great satisfaction in having BRATs as a platform for me to continue writing. It has helped to prevent my writing skills from getting “rusty” while I prepare for my English language proficiency tests. Wong Zhi Yong, 18

Writing for BRATs is different from writing for my schoolwork. Before I joined the programme, I never wrote an interview article, let alone have the opportunity to be an interviewer. This writing platform enabled me to discover new things about myself and others, and to gain new experiences. Chia Zhi Zhi, 17

The BRATs programme has been a way for me to get in touch with my deeper self, in addition to teaching me that everyone has a story to tell. I would like to thank The Star for supporting young creative people around the country and providing a platform for our stories to be read. Sending in my application almost a year ago is one of the best decisions I have made. Nisshea P.K. Sivakumaran, 18

Writing and taking up interview assignments have become a regular part of my life. To those of you who wish to join the BRATs programme, my advice to you is to have patience and perseverance in getting your work noticed. Gaining the right skills and experience does not happen overnight. This is my biggest takeaway from my participation in the programme. Jynn Kok E-Lynn, 17
