Star caught out wearing holey socks

ALTHOUGH he may be rich and famous, Mandopop heartthrob Wang Lee Hom does not simply splurge.

He was “caught red-handed” wearing a pair of holey socks, China Press reported.

His good friend, Taiwanese pop star David Tao revealed in a recent episode of the third season of Chinese talk show Roast that Wang was a thrifty person.

“If you go through Wang’s wardrobe, you will find many pairs of socks with holes in them,” Tao said.

The duo were at the talk show when Tao revealed Wang’s frugal lifestyle and pointed out that although Wang earned a lot of money, he was very prudent especially in his choice of clothes.

The audience then asked Wang to remove his shoes to verify Tao’s allegation.

Although the 42- year- old denied it, he was indeed wearing socks with worn-out heels when he took off one of his shoes.

The very embarrassed Wang then playfully chucked his shoe at Tao. Tao replied that it had a “fishy” smell which drew laughter from the audience.

> A man from Hangzhou, China, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after having only fruits for dinner for a month.

According to Oriental Daily, he replaced his meals with fruits for the past one month as he found cooking tedious.

“Two bananas can replace a bowl of rice, honeydew can quench thirst while replenishing my energy,” said the 21-year-old, adding that fruits not only fulfil his daily nutrients requirement, they allow him to “be lazy”.

However, earlier last month, he experienced dizziness, dry mouth and nausea and was admitted to the hospital.

His medical report showed that his blood glucose had reached 10 times that of a normal person and the acid value (pH) of his blood was severely acidic.

He was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious condition that can lead to diabetic coma which causes death, and was sent to the ICU for observation and further treatment.
