BANGI: They may be twins but each did not know the other was pursuing the same course in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and graduated at the same time.

Now, both 23-year-old V. K. Giri Raaj V. Kumarasundarajan and V. K. Hari Raaj are planning to pursue their Masters in communication together.

Giri Raaj said he had not discussed with his brother what course they would be applying for but as fate would have it, they both went for UKM’s Bachelor of Social Sciences (Media and Communication) as their first choice.

“We were both working at that time. I was doing the morning shift and my brother worked at night,” he said.

Hari Raaj said he was shocked when he found out that they would both be pursuing their tertiary studies together.

The younger of the two, Giri Raaj, said they had been competitive since childhood and this drove them to do well in their studies.

Although their course lecturers would split them up for group assignments, they would still study together.

“We were also together in school and in Form Six,” said Giri Raaj.

“I was better in sports while Hari Raaj was better in the arts like dancing,” he added.

Giri Raaj graduated with a CGPA of 3.70 while Hari Raaj earned a score of 3.61.

The 46th UKM convocation saw 7,201 graduates receiving their scrolls, bringing the total number of graduates to over 197,000.
