Lim Kok Wing honoured for academic contributions
Limkokwing University of Creative Technology founder and president Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is the first Asian to receive the Legend in Innovation Award from the World Confederation of Businesses (Worldcob).
The university is also the first Asian university to receive the Diamond Award from the confederation.
Varsity vice-president (brand, creativity and talent development) Datuk Tiffanee Marie Lim accepted the award on her father’s behalf.
“This is a tremendous recognition. I believe he is a legend in this field and has paved the way for so many people in education,” Tiffanee said after accepting the award from Worldcob co-founder and president Jesus Moran at the varsity here yesterday.
The Worldcob is an international organisation that encourages business development across the world.
Moran said Kok Wing deserved the award for his “vision and stunning innovation” spanning over four decades.
“The award highlights his lifelong dedication in creating opportunities across the world,” Moran said in his citation.
Describing the Diamond Awards as one of the world’s most important business excellence awards, he said it is awarded to companies that have been recognised by the confederation for 10 years.
“We feel that Limkokwing University of Creative Technology changed the education landscape not only in Malaysia but around the world,” he added.
Also present at the ceremony was Kok Wing’s son and the varsity’s vice-president IT Systems and Integration, Datuk Seri Timothy Lim Kok Wing Jr.
