FAM unveil ACE project to strengthen affiliates
KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) are not going to let their affiliates struggle as they embark on their 12-year road map.
The national body launched Affiliate Capacity Enhancement (ACE), which is the brainchild of FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin to strengthen the affiliates.
FAM affiliates can now apply for financial grants, technical support and services as well as management training starting from 2019 for the three pillars of the ACE – management and administration, football development and competi- tion development.
The ACE project provides support and services in terms of financial management, legal, marketing and sponsorship, media and communication, fan club development and attachment at FAM, besides technical assessments through coaching courses and supply of equipment as well as workshops on e-based league and competition systems and seed grants for State leagues.
Hamidin, who met the presidents and the representatives from all 20 FAM affiliates before the launch, said that the ACE is a part of his vision and mission to improve FAM.
“I met the affiliates for the first time and took this chance to explain to them about the F30 Road Map. We want our affiliates to be strong and for that, the basics need to be strong,” said Hamidin yesterday.
“This programme can begin as soon as possible and a circular will be sent to the affiliates soon and I think the work can start by December.”
Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah lauded FAM’s approach to enhance affiliates.
“I think this is a good programme and there’s a holistic approach on improving.
“There’s focus on youth development, enhancing coaching and also emphasize on referees,” said Tengku Amir.
