TAR UC to celebrate golden do in style
KUALA LUMPUR: A meaningful and nostalgic anniversary celebration awaits fellow alumni of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC).
The higher-learning institution which is turning 50 next year, will be having a grand celebration at its campus here on March 16 and 17 next year.
Describing it as a “golden opportunity”, TAR UC president Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei said the event – which is themed “HomeComing” – is a chance for the Tarcian alumni to “reconnect” over a series of programmes and activities held over the two days.
“On the first day, there will be sharing sessions, showcases, a concert and a forum where our partners and special guests would discuss about the future of education.
“Our grand 50th anniversary will be held on the second day where fellow Tarcian alumni can reconnect and also get to know our existing students,” he told reporters during a press conference held at TAR UC’s campus here yesterday ( Nov 15).
He said that Tarcians (alumni) could start booking their favourite lecture hall or classroom to have their “mini gathering” on campus grounds during the anniversary celebration.
“Our alumni who graduated in 1988 have already booked their old lecture hall for their reunion party,” he added.
Prof Lee hoped that Tarcians would “come home” to the place where good and nostalgic memories were made.
“Alumni from around the world, please come home and join us on this joyous occasion,” he said, adding that many Tarcians have not returned to visit since they graduated.
Besides alumni, Prof Lee said former lecturers and staff of TAR College are also invited to be part of the celebration as a “big family”. set up in 1969, TAR UC has carved a reputation for academic excellence and holistic education.
Over the past 49 years, TAR UC has educated about 200,000 individuals who have gone on to become professionals, national leaders and successful entrepreneurs nationally and globally.
