‘Stan Lee wanted a Chinese superhero movie’

AMERICAN comic book writer Stan Lee had wanted to make a Chinese superhero movie, said Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan who met the Marvel legend some years back.

“I was like a fan meeting my idol. He told me that he wished to produce a Chinese superhero movie with me,” Chan said in a Weibo posting.

Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95.

“All these years, we had hoped to fulfil the dream. Goodbye, superhero! Thank you for leaving superhero dreams to all the audience,” he wrote in his tribute to Lee, who died on Tuesday.

China Press reported that Chan had met Lee some years ago in the United States.

There was speculatio­n in July that Marvel Studios was planning to produce a Captain China. But the publisher of Captain China comics, Excel Comics, quashed such talk later.

China Press reported that the boy told the police that he was unaware that it was illegal for him to do so.

At that time, he was fetching a classmate home.

A video of the boy crying and pleading with the policemen to let him off has gone viral.

He was brought to the police station before he was allowed to go home.

Two days later, the boy was given a new bicycle by the police station.

The police said they wanted to remind parents that it was safer for their young children to ride a bicycle as it was against the law for them to handle a motorcycle.

Such rumours surfaced based on interactio­ns between Chen, nicknamed Ashin, and Tsai on stage and on social media, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

Mayday’s recording company, B’in Music, when queried by the media, scoffed at such talk with a terse “no”.
