Two years on and Malaysian video-on-demand service dimsum is only getting stronger as it serves up bigger and better offerings in more territories.

At an event commemorating dimsum’s second anniversary, chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim announced that subscribers could look forward to more highprofile titles such as highly-anticipated Mainland China dramas

The King of Blaze.

“We are also looking at developing our own original content within the next 12 to 18 months.

“As the production will be targeted towards multiple territories, we will co-produce it with one or two other countries,” she said.

Dimsum is making its presence felt in more countries with its recent launch in Singapore.

“The full dimsum app is now available in Singapore. We feel that Singaporeans have a similar appetite for the content we carry.

“Next, we are looking at venturing into countries within the Asean region,” Lam said.

She also reflected on the major strides dimsum has made since its launch in November 2016.

“Today, we have nearly a million subscribers and three to four times more hours of content than when we first started out,” she said.

Lam added that dimsum had helped to introduce the lakorn (Thai dramas) culture to Malaysia by bringing Thai artistes such as Push and Esther Supreeleela to meet Malaysian viewers when Thai dramas Princess Hours and the U-Prince series became a hit among subscribers.

“Thai dramas have been shown in Malaysia before, but just here and there. No one specialised in Thai content and we felt there was a lot of interest in them, so we tapped into that opportunity and it’s one of the most-watched content on dimsum,” she said.

In conjunction with its second anniversary and for a limited time only, dimsum subscriptions are being priced at RM59 (normal price RM83) for six months and RM99 (normal price RM165) for a year.

To thank its subscribers for their continuous support, dimsum has organised a three-day celebration event which began yesterday and will last till tomorrow.

Head over to LG2, Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, between 10am and 10pm to take part in fun-filled activities.

There will also be a meet-andgreet session with the stars of Mainland Chinese series The Eternal Love 2, including Liang Jie, Sun Yi Ning, Chen You Wei and Wang Hao Ge, today at 4pm.

Singaporean actors Elvin Ng and Ian Fang, who star in Till We Meet Again, will meet fans tomorrow at 5pm.
