Shamsul quotes Rajini to promote party unity

SHAH ALAM: Outgoing PKR vicepresident Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin called for party unity by referring to the “wisdom” of Indian movie star Rajinikanth.

In his winding up speech, Shamsul Iskandar quoted a line made famous by Rajinikanth from the movie Baasha.

“If I say it once, it’s like I have said it a hundred times,” he said in Tamil, drawing much laughter and cheers from the crowd.

He said this at the PKR national congress at Ideal Convention Centre near here yesterday, using the line to urge PKR members to continue the party struggle.

“If we have fought for the party once, we would still fight for the party a hundred times.

“PKR is one party united in the name of Malaysia. We are strong when we are one, and we would surely be successful,” he said.

The Deputy Primary Industries Minister also likened the leadership of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to “a flourishing tree”.

“If you want to take shelter, do it under a flourishing tree. If you want to hold on to something, grab a strong branch.

“If you want to dock, look for a safe bay,” he said, referring to the partnership of Anwar and Azmin.
