Maggie Cheung makes rare public appearance at fashion expo

-

HONG KONG screen goddess Maggie Cheung, who has not acted since 2010, made a rare public appearance at a Louis Vuitton exhibition and created much buzz.

Even the colour of her hair at the Shanghai event on Nov 15 was described in various ways such as “ginger” and “red”.

But Oriental Daily reported her re-emergence took fans by surprise.

Some netizens even left nasty comments like “this scared me to death”, “the goddess is really old now”, and “time is a killer knife”.

Other fans begged to differ. To them, no matter how she looks, she remains one of Chinese film legends.

Cheung, 54, whose wearing of the cheongsam in In The Mood For Love had become iconic, won the Best Actress award in Cannes in 2004, which was a first for a Chinese actress.

When the red carpet host asked Cheung about her latest plans, she replied that she was busy making music and hoped to release an EP soon.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a man from Fuzhou, China pasted eight stickers on his wife’s car as a warning to other road users that she is a new driver.

Some of the messages proclaimed “just got her driving licence”, “not joking” and “press hard on brake pedal”.

The woman explained that she had just obtained her driving licence and accidentally knocked into somebody else’s car after a few days.

She also admitted that she tended to shift lanes without using the signal but her husband did not reprimand her. Instead, he put up stickers on her car to warn other drivers.

“He is very thoughtful. He did not scold me. By doing this, he wants to ensure my safety and that of other road users,” she said.

The stickers were placed at the back and side of the red car.
