DAP lodges reports against PAS over ‘anti-Malay’ remark

-

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has lodged police reports against PAS treasurer Razman Zakaria for accusing the party of being “anti-Malay”.

Ipoh Timor MP Wong Kah Woh said he lodged the report on Monday as the allegations by Razman were false and slanderous.

“DAP is a party that respects and upholds the position of the (Malay) Rulers.

“DAP is also a party that places importance in serving the rakyat without expecting any returns.

“So such allegations are slanderous and are done to cultivate the politics of hate," said Wong in a press conference at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

Wong said he lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station and added that more police reports will also be lodged in Melaka, Taiping, Ipoh and Setiawan.

“I hope the police will investigate this as we cannot allow such hate speech to ruin the country's harmony,” said Wong.

On Nov 17, Razman, who is also the Perak PAS commissioner, claimed that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng was challenging the sovereignty of Malay Rulers by advising party members against accepting honorific titles such as “Datuk”.

Last October, Lim had criticised his party colleagues for accepting state or federal awards that conferred titles upon them saying it was an “unhealthy” Barisan Nasional culture of chasing after titles and awards.
