Neelofa: My grandfather was everything to me

-

TELEVISION host and actress Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor considers her grandfather’s death a “big loss”, reported Harian Metro.

On Instagram, she described Noor Mohamed as the person who had taught her about life, love, kindness and family importance.

“Abah, you left us, my heart is broken and a part of me left with you.

“You taught me so many things about life, love, kindness, about family, everything.

“You were one of the people I look forward to meeting whenever I went back to Kelantan, ” she wrote.

Noor Mohamed passed away at 11.20pm in a Kota Baru hospital at the age of 83.

> Harian Metro also reported about a 77-year-old house in Kuala Terengganu that had been demolished for development.

Its owner Wan Mokhtar Wan Yusof, 66, said he regretted that his six-year effort to preserve the residence in Kampung Tanjung Kelab Pantai had failed.

“Last Sunday, I received a notice from the Land and Mines Office telling me to vacate my house by Wednesday.

“Three days was too short a time for me to find a new place to live, so I appealed to be given two more weeks but it went unanswered.

“I was asked to pay RM500,000 to the state government if I wanted to stop my house from being demolished,” he said.

He said he had not agreed to the RM20,000 compensation offered by the previous administration, but now had to agree to the demolition.

Built in 1941, the two-storey traditional wooden house was torn down on Wednesday.

The house was located in the middle of a piece of land earmarked for a development project, the daily reported, and state Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the owner failed to show proof of his land ownership.

A report had also been made to the state Fire and Rescue Department and the police, he added.
