PETALING JAYA: The driver of the pick-up truck that ploughed into customers at a restaurant in Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan, has been charged with murder.

Wilsonresa Anak Dudom has been charged at the magistrate’s court here under Section 302 of the Penal Code with murdering Wong Sow Lin, 57, at around 8.20pm on Nov 18.

The 20-year-old Sarawakian who was unrepresented said he understood the charge after it was read to him by a court interpreter.

Wilsonresa was alleged to have committed the offence at a road in front of Restoran Tar Chong on Jalan Equine 9B, Seri Kembangan.

No bail was granted as murder is a non-bailable offence. He faces the mandatory death penalty if convicted.

DPP Alia Sumayyah Amran asked the court to set a mention date while awaiting autopsy and forensic reports.

Magistrate Mohd Nor Hafidzuddin Yusof fixed the case for mention on Jan 8.

It was previously reported that the driver of a pick-up truck ploughed into a table at the open- air area of an eatery at Taman Equine, killing a woman and injuring three others.

The driver then drove off and hit three other vehicles there.

He surrendered to police some five hours later and was arrested before a four-day remand was obtained.

Police confirmed the driver tested negative for drugs and a blood sample has been obtained from him to gauge his alcohol level.
