I have no ill will towards royal family, says Rewcastle-Brown

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown has clarified that she has no ill intentions towards the Terengganu royal family and that the allegations thrown at her in a police report were a mistaken understanding of her book The Sarawak Report: The Inside Story of the 1MDB Expose.

The investigative reporter was questioned for around three hours regarding the book at Bukit Aman yesterday after a police report was lodged against her.

In a press conference, Rewcastle-Brown said she presented herself to the police on her own free will after being told that numerous contacts had been questioned by the police.

“I had a very pleasant interview with the police.

“I hope I was able to explain everything about this report.

“They asked me fair questions and I explained to the police that the allegations made in the police report are totally incorrect,” she said.

“I’m concerned that the civil case is being backed up with complaints to the police.”

During the press conference, she clarified her stance on the issue that led to the suit.

On Wednesday, the Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah filed a defamation suit against Rewcastle-Brown and two others at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Lawyer Datuk Mohd Haaziq Pillay Abdullah said the lawsuit was aimed to clear Sultanah Nur Zahirah’s name.
