Year Six pupils start break with mixed emotions

PUTRAJAYA: While students throughout the country are running out of their school gates with smiles all over their faces, signalling the last day of school, SK Putrajaya Presint 16 (2) Year Six pupils are left with mixed emotions.

Sashanee Velumani is going to miss her favourite English and Science teachers.

“They inspire me to do good and to always learn new things.

“I will miss this school and all the good memories and friends, but I am happy to move on, too. I’m excited to enter ‘big school’,” she said.

The youngest of three siblings, however, could not hide her excitement to go on a family trip to Melaka as soon as the holidays begin.

Though Sashanee is looking forward to entering secondary school, Nuha Maysarah Mohd Bahroddin has less enthusiasm.

“I am sad to leave the primary school era. I have seven best friends here. We plan to meet during the holidays,” she said.

Aliq Wafi is also feeling bitterswee­t emotions.

“I am so happy because I can now relax! I love playing sports especially football. But I feel sad about entering a new school. I’m also nervous about my UPSR results,” said the bubbly pupil.

Year Five pupil Muhammad Amirul Hafiq Egmal was not too excited to start his school holidays as he may transfer to a new school next year.

“My best friends are here and I hope to really the holidays with them,” he said.

The year-end break starts today except in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu where the holidays started a day earlier.

The new school year will begin on Jan 2 except in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu when classes start a day earlier.
