K-pop group BTS breaks yet another record with new album

SOUTH Korean K-pop group BTS broke another record after their newly-launched album titled Love Yourself: Answer was awarded the Gold Album certificat­ion by Recording Industry Associatio­n of America (RIAA), Sin Chew Daily reported.

It was the first Korean album to be awarded the gold certified in the United States.

Its hit singles Idol was also gold certified while the BTS’ 2017 song Mic Drop was given the platinum certificat­ion.

According to the associatio­n’s standards, in order to get a gold certificat­ion, the album sales has to exceed 500,000 pieces while those recording one million in sales are awarded platinum certificat­ion.

> The daily also reported Chinese citizens want Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana to withdraw from China entirely following crude remarks by its co-founder Stefano Gabbana on Instagram.

The issue came into the spotlight after several screenshot messages were circulated online showing Gabbana referring to China using disrespect­ful terms and emoji.

In reply to Italian press on Thursday, a spokesman from China’s Foreign Affairs Ministry hoped the issue would not escalate to the extent that it affects the relationsh­ip of both countries.

“This is not even a problem related to foreign affairs.

“However, other countries should understand how our citizens see this particular issue,” he said.

Several Chinese e-commerce sites including TianMao and JD.com had taken down Dolce & Gabbana goods from its site.

> A four-year-old boy tried his luck in getting his favourite capsule toy but got his little hand stuck in the vending machine, China Press reported.

The incident happened at Taman Eng Ann, Klang, on Nov 20 and the boy was crying in pain.

The Fire and Rescue Department took 20 minutes to free the boy.
