MACC record shows Bentong MP has ‘zero’ asset

PETALING JAYA: While news of Malaysia’s “richest” MPs made headlines, the Malaysian AntiCorrup­tion Commission (MACC) asset declaratio­n list also shows those who are at the bottom of the pile.

With a monthly income of RM22,412.64, Bentong MP Wong Tack (pic) is ranked the lowest.

This is according to the MACC website as of yesterday.

The public asset declaratio­n list also shows that the value of Wong’s assets is “zero”.

Next in line with the lowest monthly income is Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

She has a monthly income of RM24,300, with total assets valued at RM643,178.06.

This is followed by Tenom MP Noorita Sual with RM24,500 a month.

Other MPs with a “humble” monthly income include Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, Klang MP Charles Santiago, Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah, who declared RM25,700.

In terms of assets, Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim has one of the lowest, valued at only RM29,000.

Lanang MP Alice Lau and Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Rina Harun are among those with the lowest value of assets, amounting to RM70,000 and RM72,000 respective­ly.

In the meantime, Jerlun MP Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir is now leading the list of the “richest” MPs in terms of monthly income.

Raking in RM105,641.76, the Kedah Mentri Besar edged out Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming who earns RM101,160 and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng who brings in RM86,464.

The value of Mukhriz’s assets is not stated on the website.

It was earlier reported that Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham topped the list in terms of assets among Pakatan Harapan MPs.

Ngeh has assets valued at RM82mil, followed by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who has accumulate­d assets worth RM32mil.
