MISC-MIFA to compete in Super League under a different guise

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Indian Football Associatio­n (MISC-MIFA) will play in the Super League in 2019, but under a different name.

MISC-MIFA president Datuk T. Mohan said a name change was on the cards as the current management have been negotiatin­g with a new group to take over the team.

“We are discussing with the new group and are in the midst of finalising it. This is a corporate rebranding exercise and there will be changes in the team too,” said Mohan.

“There will be a new management and we hope to wrap up things in two weeks.”

MISC-MIFA earned a spot in the Super League after Premier League runners-up Felcra pulled out from the M-League.

However, the team were promoted with several conditions and Mohan said they would abide by the conditions set by the Football Associatio­n of Malaysia (FAM) and the Malaysia Football League (MFL).

forward a three- year financial plan to ensure that they do not pull out mid-season.

“There are some administra­tional matters that we need to address and we’re looking into it,” added Mohan.

MISC-MIFA finished third in the 12-team Premier League with 32 points while Felcra finished second with 34 points. Felda United were crowned as the champions with 43 points.

The Nilai-based club are among three teams (Felda and UiTM), who were granted national licence to compete in the 2019 Super League.
