TAIPING: It’s raining “Santas” in the peninsula’s wettest town.

Some 730 participants, geared up in the traditional red and white Santa and Santarina costumes, came together for the Spritzer Sparkling Christmas Treasure Hunt at the Spritzer EcoPark here yesterday.

For this feat, Spritzer Bhd has been awarded the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Most Number of Santas and Santarinas in a Treasure Hunt Challenge”.

Malaysia Book of Records business development manager Edwin Yeoh said the minimum number required for the attempt was 600.

He said it was the first of such attempt by any group or individual held in the country.

“To get the number of participants, the organiser needs to get them to commit to come and take part.

“There were fears that participants who signed up might not show up but the positive response showed otherwise,” he said.

“I understand that the multiracial participants are from various parts of the country, including Selangor, Penang and Kedah.”

Spritzer group public relations manager Winnie Chin said it was a proud moment for the company.

“Like Taiping with its many ‘firsts’, Spritzer, a company that is based here, is proud to have a ‘first’ of our own,” she said.

Chin said the main objective of the treasure hunt was to help make Taiping more “happening”.

“Taiping is an amazing town with a lot to offer in terms of attractions and historical value,” she said.

Taiping records an average annual rainfall of about 4,000mm while the rest of Peninsular Malaysia gets about 2,000mm to 2,500mm, giving it the title of “wettest town”.
