IPOH: The anticipated vote of no confidence against Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu did not materialise at the end of the six-day state assembly sitting.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming said this was due to the united support by all the state’s Pakatan Harapan assemblymen for Ahmad Faizal.

He added that there was no move to topple Ahmad Faizal, and that the opposition was merely making an attempt to create chaos in Perak.

“Today (Wednesday) is the last day of the state assembly sitting and Ahmad Faizal is still the Perak Mentri Besar.

“This is proof that the state opposition leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad is a leader with zero credibility.

“Instead of focusing on the well-being of the people, Saarani chose to go around spreading rumours on the plot to topple the Mentri Besar,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting yesterday.

Nga was referring to Saarani’s claims that a Pakatan state executive councillor had approached five Umno assemblymen at various locations in Perak and Kuala Lumpur for them to support his plot to oust Ahmad Faizal.

On Tuesday, Saarani had indirectly pointed the finger at Perak DAP vice-chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari as the exco member out to topple the Mentri Besar.

However, Dr Abdul Aziz denied his involvement, saying that Saarani could be considered as having lied about the matter if Ahmad Faizal still remained the Mentri Besar on the last day of the sitting.

On the statuary declaration signed by the five Umno assemblymen as claimed by Saarani, Nga said: “Anyone can write a declaration.”

Dr Abdul Aziz, who is Tebing Tinggi assemblyman, went to the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office here yesterday with regards to the so-called plot.

Media officer Shukrie Ibrahim said Dr Abdul Aziz spent two hours at the MACC office giving his statement.
