BANGKOK: Thailand’s hotshot striker Adisak Kraison was clearly distraught after becoming the villain in their AFF Suzuki Cup campaign.

Adisak failed to a convert a last ditch spotkick and they crashed out on away goal rules to 10-men Malaysia after the semi-final clash ended 2-2 on aggregate at the Rajamangala Stadium on Wednesday.

Malaysia had twice come from behind to hold Thailand 2-2 with goals from Syahmi Safari (28th minute) and veteran striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (71st) after the hosts took the lead through Irfan Zakaria’s own goal (21st) and Pansa Hemviboon’s goal (63rd) in the second leg of the semi-final match.

Adisak who is currently leading the goal scorer’s chart with eight goals said he was looking forward to gift the country the perfect gift on their National Day.

“I wanted to win this game and enter the final as a present to the Thai people on our National Day but I messed up the penalty kick,” said Adisak after the match with tears in eyes.

“But I wasted my chance and we ended up losing the match... I want to apologise to Thai people for my mistake.”

“I was overthinking ... I was thinking where to place the ball and I ended up ballooning it.”

The Muangthong United hit-man said that he will look to redeem himself at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup in United Arab Emirates next month.

“We will move on from this result and get ready for our next tournament. I’m looking forward to perform better in the Asian Cup,” added the the 27-year-old.
