Five-handicapper wins on countback at Palm Garden
AMIR Benno emerged the champion golfer at the Yamaha ilovegolf Tournament hosted by Palm Garden Golf Club in Putrajaya.
The five-handicapper posted a 39-point tally to take the title on countback from Abdul Hakim Mohd, after the winner was determined on handicap. Abdul Hakim played off a 12 on the day and did well in the circumstances to also sign for 39 Stableford points.
Pakhruddin Abd Majid finished third - the eight-handicapper was a point adrift of the top-two on 38 points.
At the awards presentation the
winners got to choose their prize from a list that had one for each of the participants.
Among the leading prizes was a set of the new Yamaha RMX218 irons and a Yamaha UD+2 driver.
In an event that drew a field of 112 players and was over subscribed, Nurul Ambia Mohd Halim clinched the Nearest-to-Pin prize after his tee sot came to rest seven feet from the flag stick, while Tan Lian Beng won the the Nearest-to-Line contest. His effort was measured at one foot from the line.
Displaying the prowess of a pro,
Saharun Kasim blasted his tee shot 237.70m down the fairway and duly collected the Longest Drive prize.
The winners of these novelty contests each went home with a Yamaha RMX caddie bag
There was a novelty campaign for the flight Posing the Most Happy & Creative Peace Sign, which involved teamwork from the players and did not disappoint in the results.
The total value of the prizes on offer was RM70,000.
Participants also got to test out the new Garmin Approach Z80 range finder at the Garmin hole, where a precise yardage to the pin was measured.
The Approach Z80 range finder is the company’s most advance distance measuring device to date and comes with several smart features.
