Depositors’ confidence in Tabung Haji unwavering
JOHOR BARU: Mohd Yusri Mat Ali’s confidence in Lembaga Tabung Haji remains intact despite it being mired in a controversy.
The shipping company technician said he was confident that the organisation’s financial position would recover soon.
“This is not the first time I have heard of scandals related to the fund but I have yet to see much effect,” the 38-year-old Mohd Yusri said, adding that he is confident his money is still secure with TH.
“We will cross that bridge when we get there.
“At least now everything is out in the open and measures to protect the fund can be taken.”
Store manager Ridzuan Ibrahim, 44, also said he is not bothered by the financial position of TH as he believes he is secured by Perbadanan Insurance Deposit Malaysia.
“I think even if the reports are true, the impact may not be too bad and TH could still recover,” Ridzuan said, adding that he also believes the government is aggressively trying to keep it afloat.
A lorry driver who only wanted to be known as Mustafa had just deposited some money into his TH account.
Mustafa, 50, said he still has faith in TH.
“My children did tell me not to put my savings into TH and to wait until things settle down. But I believe that it will survive.
“The reports did not dent my faith in the fund,” Mustafa said, adding that he hopes TH would help him realise his dream of going for a pilgrim to Mecca soon.
Two police reports were lodged against its former chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, former chief executive officers Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, as well as senior management staff following internal investigations into past transactions.
