Fewer roles for Sherry

Actress’ career affected since she started donning the hijab

ACTRESS Sherry Ibrahim (pic), 35, said her decision to start wearing the hijab has affected her career, Kosmo! reported.

Sherry, whose real name is Syarizad Ibrahim, claimed that she now had fewer roles to choose from due to her attire.

“Since I started wearing the hijab, it is difficult to find the right (acting) roles. The choice of characters that I feel comfortabl­e to play was more limited,” she said.

Sherry, who has been wearing the

hijab over the past two years, said she stopped accepting roles which had physical contact with actors.

“I have told directors that I do not want to act in scenes where I have to touch (a male co-star),” she said, adding that she was happy to accept a job offer if her conditions were met.

> Berita Harian reported that a mother in Jelawat, Kota Baru, has been feeding her toddler only water and plain rice after running out of money to buy formula milk.

Nabilah Bahri, 27, said the family had been struggling since her husband Ihsan Mahamood, 43, was involved in an accident in August.

“Ihsan is unable to work and we are relying on our neighbours for food. We are just eating plain rice and replaced our children’s milk with water because we have no money,” she said.

The couple have four children aged between one and eight.
