K-Pop group MASC to perform at New Year countdown party

-

PETALING JAYA: Korean pop (Kpop) lovers here can usher in the New Year with Korean boyband MASC.

The boyband will entertain at a New Year’s Eve countdown party at Citta Mall in Ara Damansara.

Citta Mall group marketing head Alan Thoo said the Koreans would belt out three songs at the event.

“This will be the first time we will be having an international act at our countdown party. The Kpop wave is on, and we thought why not?

“MASC will be touring here and we managed to get them,” he said.

He said singer Kilafairy, rock band Nadir and reality TV alumni and singer Rax Teh would also perform.

He said the host for the night would be Baki Zainal, known for his ability to host in Malay, English and Chinese.

He is no stranger to the mall having hosted previous countdowns.

“People have been messaging us asking for him to host again. They say ‘Baki is so funny’, so everyone agreed he needs to come back,” he said, adding that the mall expected about 1,500 people at the event which would begin at 8.30pm.

He said that revellers need not be worried about food and beverage options as many restaurants, bars, and cafes would remain open until late on Dec 31. Thoo said the countdown party was in line with the mall’s move to focus more on being a community mall.

“This mall is not just where people can come to makan (eat) and shop, we also want to be a mall that is part of the community,” he said.
