KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were at the Airod facility in Subang to pay their last respects to Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
The remains of the 24-year-old firefighter were flown on an MI17IV helicopter belonging to the Fire and Rescue Department to Kedah at 8.50am yesterday.
The couple paid their last respects when the hearse containing Muhammad Adib’s remains was car- ried to the helicopter to be flown to his hometown, Bernama reported.
In Petaling Jaya, the InspectorGeneral of Police has warned against anyone stirring up trouble even as the force threw a defensive ring around the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25.
Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun urged people not to resort to actions that would stoke racial and religious sensitivities.
“The police will take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of all,” he said in a statement.
Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab assured the public that those responsible for Adib’s murder would face justice.
“We will track down those suspected of assaulting Adib. Justice will be served,” he said when contacted.
Following Adib’s passing on Monday, Selangor police had reclassified the case from attempted murder to murder.
