Selangor Umno: Disloyal party members should get out

Umno members who want to leave the party should just go, says Selangor Umno secretary Datuk Johan Abdul Aziz.

He said there were still many who loved the party and would do what it takes to revive it.

He added that although some division leaders had left, their depu- ties were staying put.

“We also have many young people in the youth wing who can move up and strengthen the party.

“So those who want to leave should just go, so that we will be rid of disloyal people,” said Johan.

Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan concurred, and urged remaining party members not to panic over the exodus.

“These people have made their choice for reasons known only to them. They have gone and we are no longer concerned about them,” said Mat Nadzari.

However, he added, the party leadership must do what was necessary to stop this from happening further.

Mat Nadzari said the onus was on the top leadership to stop the defections from escalating.

He said it was time for party members at all levels to come together, stop finding fault with each other and collectively work towards salvaging the party.

Mat Nadzari also said he was confident that Umno would return to its past glory.

“Whatever is broken will be fixed, and whatever is lost will be replaced. There will always be someone to carry the party forward,” he said.
