PETALING JAYA: Sin Li Jane (pic) showed her resolve to capture her maiden Korean Professional Bowling Association ( KPBA) Tour title with a resounding display in the Storm Cup qualifying campaign.

The 26-year-old struck a superb 2,476 in the 10-game roll-off to top the 80-competitor Group A which comprised US PBA Tour stars Marshall Kent, Liz Johnson and Darren Tang in Suwon yesterday.

Natasha Roslan was the other Malaysian to make the top-16 cut for the knockout rounds after she amassed 2,364 pinfalls for eighth spot.

Esther Cheah failed to join her teammates as her 2,278 total was only good enough for 21st.

Also qualified was Timmy Tan after he knocked down 2,288 pins to be placed 12th in Group C. Shalin Zulkifli was also playing in the same group but she failed to make the cut as she could only manage a 2,180 for 35th spot.

Li Jane will be aiming to get her hands on a KPBA crown after twice making it as far as the quarter-finals including the Samho Korea Cup in October.

Li Jane had already won three times on the European Bowling Tour and once on the US PWBA Tour and conquering Korea is her top priority.

The Storm Cup features a massive field of 320 players comprising mainly local professionals.

The tournament offers total prize money of 200mil won (RM738,000) with the winner set to take home 34mil won (RM126,000).
