Woman scalded in beauty treatment

Doc: Burns on face won’t fully heal

THE face of a 34-year-old woman was scalded by hot water from a steamer during a facial treatment at home, Berita Harian reported.

Siti Zalina, who works at an insurance company, is now receiving treatment in Klang Hospital for serious injuries to her face, eyes and neck.

Her friend, the beautician who provided the facial treatment, caused the accident.

Siti immediatel­y contacted her husband and was rushed to the hospital.

Doctor said the burns on her face will not fully heal as the injury was serious.

She said she wanted to publicise her case so that others can avoid such an experience.

The daily reported that there are about 20,000 “beauty experts” or aesthetici­ans giving beauty treatments across the nation.

Only 200 from the 20,000 “experts” have Letter of Credential­ing and Privilegin­g from the Health Ministry.

Harian Metro reported that Aziz Mamat’s invention is currently used in India, South Korea and the United States.

Aziz said the software was designed in 2003 to assist preschool pupils aged between four and 12 to learn Mathematic­s.

The module was certified as Microsoft Innovative Educator and the teacher has received several awards for his contributi­on to the education sector.

> A family of four had marbles thrown at them while they were in a car, Sinar Harian reported.

It happened at night near Kampung Tengah, Kuantan.

Hoe Man Tat, 35, said he was in his car with his wife and two children at the time.

Marbles were thrown at the windows of his car, breaking the glass. His son suffered a minor injury as a result.

The attack is believed to have been caused by passengers of a white Hyundai Tucson.

Hoe said he tried to chase after the car but was prevented by his wife as she was afraid they could be attacked again.
