TAR UC: There is a break during CNY, not as claimed in fake petition

-

PETALING JAYA: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College has dismissed a petition created on change.org claiming that TAR UC is holding its end of semester examinations during Chinese New Year.

The Lunar festival falls on Feb 5 and 6 next year.

TAR UC president Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei said the exam periods were from Jan 25 to 31 and Feb 8 to 12.

“There is a break between the exams for the Chinese New Year celebrations – from Feb 1 to 7 – at TAR UC,” he said in reference to the petition.

Immediately after the exam ends, Prof Lee said there would be a semester break from Feb 13.

“The new semester starts on March 4,” Prof Lee added.

The petition was created by an individual who called himself Leslie Cheung. He calls his petition: “Prof Ir. Dr Lee Sze Wei: Avoid Having Final exam during CNY”.

The petition starter then used The Star’s education desk’s e-mail address.

Should anyone respond to the petition, the e-mail would automatically be sent to The Star’s education desk.

The Star is in no way connected to the petition or to anyone calling himself Leslie Cheung.

Change.org defines itself as “the world’s platform for change” where “people everywhere are starting campaigns, mobilising supporters, and working with decision makers to drive solutions”.
