> Firemen to the rescue

Our firemen are not given sufficient recognition. This morning, I called Pandan Indah’s Bomba to rescue a dog that had fallen into a deep drain and had been trapped there for two days. When the neighbourhood’s attempts to rescue it failed, we called the Bomba and their personnel came in less than 10 minutes. When they could not locate the dog, they went into the drain tunnel without fear. They were so helpful and also happy to help. Yes, they certainly are heroes. – Gyan

> When ministers speak

Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was spot on when he asked ministers to think before they speak. Yes, they should, as their words matter to the rakyat. Also, they should verify what they say. Half truths, guesses and speculation will not do. – Bulbir Singh, Seremban

> Are they protected

Every day, and 24/7, civil servants like front line law enforcers, firemen and medical staff are expected to be on duty and respond to emergencies at odd hours and in dangerous times. Is this practice according to labour laws? Are they protected?

> Political plot?

Asking National Unity Minister P. Waytha Moorthy to resign looks more like a political plot. The government must be careful and check on the instigators.

> Bring them back

Some of the talented retired civil servants should be considered to serve in advisory roles to the government and the rakyat. Your experience and expertise is invaluable and greatly appreciated!

> Stop the drama

Malaysian politics is now highly polarised. The dust is taking longer to settle. The government’s approval rating has been plunging rapidly. It has also lost its focus on the economy. It is now politics without principles. Please deliver what is expected of you. – P.J. Gomes

> Brunei’s envoy

Envoys were appointed recently by the Foreign Ministry, including one to Brunei. Brunei is a small nation and so close to Malaysia. The High Commissioner of Singapore there should be accredited as Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Brunei. Malaysia could save millions this way. – P. Gandhi, Seremban

> Don’t talk like that

Shocking to hear an Umno MP during recent Parliament proceedings telling the Speaker “you should be ashamed of yourself”. Such deplorable behaviour should never be tolerated regardless of how much one disagrees with the Speaker’s decision. It’s a bad example to the younger generation watching. MPs should conduct themselves well and respect the Chair occupied by the Speaker. It’s embarrassing to watch such behaviour. – Ajit Gill
