Wee: Are Kit Siang and DAP afraid of Dr Mahathir?

-

PETALING JAYA: MCA has questioned Lim Kit Siang over his “U-turn” after the DAP stalwart said his party would not hesitate to leave Pakatan Harapan.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong asked if Lim and DAP were afraid of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Kit Siang’s statement that DAP will have no hesitation in leaving Pakatan is a brave one but he became a coward when challenged to do so. He did not even dare defend his statement besides stressing that DAP will not quit Pakatan,” Dr Wee said in a statement yesterday.

He said if the DAP adviser still wanted to see his son Guan Eng hold the Finance Minister post, he should not issue confusing statements that might be misconstrued as a threat to leave Pakatan and subsequently faulting others for not understanding it.

In a blog post on Dec 20, Kit Siang said DAP leaders would have no hesitation in leaving the coalition government if the objective of a “New Malaysia” was abandoned and that DAP leaders would never be as spineless as MCA leaders.

MCA leaders such as its deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and secretary-general Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun challenged DAP to leave Pakatan, to which Kit Siang responded in another statement that he never said DAP was quitting the coalition.

Lim then took a swipe at the MCA leaders, saying that the national education curriculum needed an overhaul because the country was producing political leaders who did not understand a simple statement.

Dr Wee noted that almost every local media (company) had reported that DAP had no hesitation in leaving Pakatan.

Even RoketKini, DAP’s own mouthpiece, did so, he added.

“Don’t blame the others (for not understanding the statement) when even Dr Mahathir didn’t understand what you were saying.

“It is also clear that DAP has failed on its Malaysian Malaysia struggle and to achieve the promises made before GE14 under the Pakatan government,” he said.
