‘I hope Nurul Izzah will still be involved in TVET’

-

IPOH: Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran hopes Nurul Izzah Anwar will continue to be involved in the development of the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) industry.

Kulasegaran said he would hold a meeting with the Permatang Pauh MP, who resigned from all roles in the government about two weeks ago, to discuss the matter.

“I will meet her soon,” he told reporters after handing out calendars to residents near the Kampung Tawas market here yesterday.

Nurul Izzah previously headed the special TVET task force but had on Dec 17 announced her decision to quit all government positions and as PKR vice-president.

On the Cameron Highlands by-election, Kulasegaran said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng would announce its candidate within the next 10 days.

He said the seat would be contested by the party, as decided by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.

“(Lim) Kit Siang and I will be visiting Cameron Highlands tomorrow. It will be our first visit there after the last general election. We will be visiting the orang asli villages, hoping that they will give us support during the by-election,” he added.

Kulasegaran also teased that the possible candidate could also make an appearance during the visit.

“We will not be announcing who but the candidate could be there,” he said.

The by-election was called after the Election Court found that corrupt practices were committed during the 14th General Election, which led to the victory of Barisan Nasional’s Datuk C. Sivarraajh.

He had won the seat in a five-cornered fight with a 597 majority over Pakatan Harapan’s M. Manogaran.
