UniMAP gets research grants
UNIVERSITI Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has received 2,124 research grants worth RM128mil, said its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal.
He said, of the total amount, RM98mil worth of grants were received from government agencies.
“By receiving such grants, researchers at UniMAP are able to carry out research activities that will benefit society in the future,” said Prof Zul Azhar when closing the annual UniMAP Invention and Research Exhibition (Ereka) UniMAP Industry Networking and Business Pitching 2018 at the Dewan Ilmu, UniMAP, in Ulu Pauh, Perlis, recently.
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)’s Technology and Society division senior direc- tor Aisharuddin Nuruddin was also present.
Prof Zul Azhar said UniMAP wanted research carried out at the university to not be restricted to lecture rooms or laboratories only but to be taken to a higher level and subsequently recognised by the industrial sector.
On Ereka 2018, he said this year’s event saw over 200 participants from various educational institutions in the country, including UniMAP as the host.
Those involved included Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara and Multimedia University; they competed in six categories such as agriculture, ICT, electronics, medicine and education. — Bernama
