Azmin’s criticism on Anwar draws flak from PKR leaders
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has come under fire from PKR members for criticising Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment of key office bearers in the party.
Perak PKR called on Azmin, who is deputy party president, to take stock of himself and accept the appointment of the central leadership council members.
Its chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said those who were appointed were not Azmin’s enemies, but comrade-in-arms and added that any difference of opinion should not cause strain among them.
“The strength of our party in Pakatan Harapan should be maintained and we should stick together in the party,” he said.
Farhash was commenting on Azmin’s statement on Saturday urging Anwar, who is PKR president, to review the central leadership appointments.
According to Azmin, the appointments did not reflect the principle of fair and just representation towards the members’ aspirations.
On Friday, Anwar announced the appointment of former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and two others as vice-presidents and several others to the central leadership council.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail was also retained as the party’s secretary-general.
PKR Youth vice-chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman said no PKR leader should question the decision made by the president.
“This is because it would cause the public to perceive a split among the top leaders,” he said.
He said all PKR leaders should close ranks and work together to deliver on the promises to the people instead of quarrelling over party matters.
“The rakyat are evaluating our performance through our work and not through squabbles,” said Syed Badli Shah.
