‘Fast and friendly’ firemen showcase their prowes ss in their annual calendar.
Calendar features our real heroes
PETALING JAYA: Images of swashbuckling heroes scaling towers and battling fires will once again adorn the desks and walls of Malaysians.
In the annual calendar of the Fire and Rescue Department, abang bomba or firemen will be shown rescuing people in distress.
The July picture shows a fireman rescuing someone in the breathtaking heights of the Petronas Twin Towers, while the May fireman is seen paragliding over the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
Fire and Rescue Department corporate management division Senior Supt II Norizan Saad said the theme of the calendar this year was “fast and friendly” (cekap dan mesra).
“We want to show that the personnel are not only adept at carrying out their duties, but also have a genuine desire to help people,” he said.
Besides featuring strapping men wielding axes and water hoses, he said, the calendar also showcased female rescuers.
“There is no gender discrimination here. We also featured female personnel, because they do great work as well,” he said.
The department, Norizan said, had been printing the calendar annually since 2014.
And there had always been enthusiastic response to it, he said.
“People enjoy it because of the ‘buff men’ we feature,” he said, adding that they wanted to show that the firemen were fit for their duties.
He said the calendar would not be on sale but distributed by state branches.
He said the 14-sheet calendar took two months to plan and produce and that the models were real firemen.
