Job market needs talents with TVET, says Wee

PETALING JAYA: The job market needs talents who have gone through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

“When I asked if they have entered the workforce, a majority of the graduates said they have already found employment.

“A few of them shared that their job offers came even before they graduated from VTAR,” the MCA president said.

He said this in a Facebook post after attending the 22nd graduation ceremony of VTAR Institute.

“This shows that the job market needs talents who have gone through TVET,” he added.

VTAR Institute, which was set up by MCA, educates students of all creeds and races, regardless of their political inclination.

“We understand that education is a noble mission,” Dr Week told reporters.

“It should not be jeopardised by political revenge.

“While MCA is now an opposition party, we are still committed to exploring more TVET courses to provide a channel for the younger generation to keep up with the times and emerging technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).

“My heartfelt congratulations to the 284 graduates, who are made up of Chinese, Malays and Indians,” he added.
