Syazwan to end time at KL with possible move to JDT

- By K. RAJAN

PETALING Malaysian international Syazwan Andik Ishak is leaving the Super League outfit Kuala Lumpur due to a loophole in his contract.

The prized leftback’s impressive performance for Malaysia during the AFF Suzuki Cup last month generated much interest in the Johor lad, but then he insisted that he will honour his contract with Kuala Lumpur.

But it is learnt that Syazwan’s contract is null and void due to an issue over unpaid salaries.

And now, Syazwan can leave the City Boys as a free agent and Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) seems to be his next destination after he missed Kuala Lumpur’s training over the last two days.

The 22-year-old has previously featured for Super League champions JDT’s sister team JDT II in the 2016 Premier League.

Kuala Lumpur FA general-secre-

JAYA:

tary Nokman Mustaffa said they have not met Syazwan or received any offers from other teams.

“We’ve yet to receive any updates from him,” said Nokman.

“It’s his right to leave us and sign up with any other teams, there’s no point in keeping him if he’s not interested in playing for us.

“No teams have contacted us on signing him and we at KLFA will never stop any players from leaving, but they need to inform us properly.

“It’s unprofessional to leave the team in the dark like this. We’re willing to talk to Syazwan and see what his demands are.”

KLFA hit a snag after their scheduled congress-cum-election on Nov 18 last year was postponed following a directive from the Sports Commissioner to allow for an investigation due to protests from several KLFA affiliates.

The postponement has left KLFA in a quandary as they could not proceed with their plans for the 2019 season.
