King and Queen visit monarchy exhibition
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah visited an exhibition themed “The Monarch” at Galeri Prima, Balai Berita, in Bangsar here.
The King, who was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, arrived at about 11am yesterday.
Their Majesties toured the exhibition and then visited the editorial department of the New Straits Times Press (NSTP).
The exhibition, which ends tomorrow, has on view 81 photographs and copies of articles on the monarchy. It also has a special section with exhibits on Sultan Abdullah.
The exhibition was organised in conjunction with the swearing-in of Sultan Abdullah as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.
During the visit, the King and Queen were accompanied by Media Prima chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad, NSTP chairman Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Media Prima group managing director Datuk Kamal Khalid, NSTP chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid and Media Prima executive director of news and editorial operations Mustapha Kamil Mohd Janor.
Galeri Prima manager Azlin Aziz said the exhibition was also aimed at educating the people about the significance of the monarchy in the country.
Azlin said the oldest dated photograph at the exhibition was one on the installation of the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the late Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Muhammad, on Sept 4, 1957. — Bernama
