‘No proof PAS got RM90mil’

MACC: No 1MDB funds found in party’s account

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) says its investigations so far have not found any evidence that the RM90mil allegedly from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) was deposited into PAS’ account.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull who said this in Kuala Terengganu, however, refused to elaborate as the investigations were still ongoing.

“From our investigations so far, there was no deposit of RM90mil from 1MDB into PAS’ account.

“Okay, that’s enough,” he said when met after attending the signing of Ikrar Bebas Rasuah (free-bribery pledge) by Terengganu assemblymen yesterday.

He also refused to comment on whether investigations had been closed, saying that follow-up action would be taken by the MACC’s investigation division.

On Feb 8, PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, who is also Bachok MP, was questioned for about two hours at the MACC Kota Baru office over the allegation.

On the same day, former PAS deputy president Datuk Dr Nasharudin Mat Isa was questioned by MACC at its headquarters in Putrajaya.

Former Bersih 2.0 chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan also had her statement recorded.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang sued Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown for libel over an article published on Aug 6, 2016, alleging that the party received RM90mil in bribes from Umno.

Brown filed a counterclaim in October 2017 and on Feb 1 this year, Abdul Hadi opted for an out-ofcourt settlement, citing high legal fees as a reason.
